Simply Irresistible Crochet Flower Pattern
I had many requests for the flower pattern I used to embellish the Half Double Crochet Earflap hat I shared with you last week. This flower is very easy to make. I hope you enjoy making it with the free pattern I’ve included below.
Supplies
Red Heart Soft. 141 g (5 oz) and 234 m (256 yds). Medium Weight Yarn. 100% Acrylic. Machine wash and dry.
Caron Simply Soft. 170 g (6 oz), 288 m (315 yds). Medium Weight Yarn. 100% Acrylic. Machine wash and dry.
This pretty flower is made in two pieces and then assembled together.
With your 4.5 mm crochet hook (or size hook indicated on the yarn label of the yarn you are using) and Color A:
Base Flower Crochet Pattern (Flower Pattern 1)
Rnd 1: 8 hdc in a DMR. [8] Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. [16] Rnd 3: *1 sc in the first st, sk the next st, chain 1**. Work from * to ** 8 times. [8 sc and 8 ch1sp] Rnd 4: *Sk the first stitch, work (1 sc, 2 dc, 2 tr, 2 dc, 1 sc) in the ch1sp**. Work from * to ** 8 times. Sl st to the first sc to join. [16 sc, 32 dc, 16 tr]
Finish off and weave in ends.
With your 4.5 mm crochet hook (or size hook indicated on the yarn label of the yarn you are using) and Color B:
Top Flower Crochet Pattern (Flower Pattern 2)
Rnd 1: 8 sc in a DMR. [8] Rnd 2: *Sl st in the fl of the first st, ch 2, beg in 2nd ch from hook (see photo a & b below) crochet 5 fsc, sl st to the bl of the first st (1 petal made)**. Work from * to ** 7 more times. [8 petals]
For Round 3, you will be working in between the petals from the round before, right into the center of the petal (see photos c & d above).
Fold the petal backwards to make it easier!
Rnd 3: Work the following in between each petal from the previous round: (1 sc, ch2, beginning in the 2nd chain from the hook crochet 3 fsc. 1 sc in the same place you worked the first sc). This will create 8 smaller petals.
Finish off and leave a long tail for assembly.
Proceed to Finishing instructions.
Finishing Instructions
Place the Flower Pattern 2 on top of Flower Pattern 1 and sew them together with your yarn tail and yarn needle as shown in the image below.
Or you can use these 2 flowers separately if you prefer.
