Festive Crochet Ornament, Brooch, and Candle Holder
Supplies
- Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver Yarn. Medium Weight Yarn. 100% Acrylic. 198 g (7 oz) / 333 m (364 yds). Machine wash and dry.
- Colors: Cherry Red, Green and White
- Crochet Hook: 4.0 mm (G)
- Scissors, Yarn Needle, Stitch marker
- Optional: ribbon, brooch back, small bell
Gauge
- First 2 rounds of wreath measures 2.25 inches diameter.
Finished Size
- Approximately 3.5 inches diameter.

- ch – chain
- dc – double crochet
- hdc – half double crochet
- R – row
- rem – remaining
- rep – repeat
- Rnd – round
- RS – right side
- sc – single crochet
- sl st – slip stitch

Easy Crochet Wreath Pattern
With your 4 mm (G) crochet hook:
Rnd 1: Ch 20, 1 sl st to the first ch to make a ring. [20 ch]
Rnd 2: Ch 4 (counts as 1 dc, ch 1), 1 dc in the next ch in the ring, ch 1. *1 dc in the next ch in the ring, ch 1**. Work from * to ** around. Ch 1. Sl st to the top of the initial ch 3 to join. [20 dc, 20 ch1sp]
Rnd 3: Sk all dc in the round. *1 sl st into the first ch1sp, (1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc) in the next ch1sp**. Work from * to ** around. Sl st to the first hdc to join. [20 hdc, 10 dc]
Finish off. Weave in ends.
Easy Crochet Bow Pattern
With your 4 mm (G) crochet hook:
R1: Ch 4 (counts as 1 dc and 1 sk ch), work 9 dc in the fourth ch from the hook, turn. [ 10 dc]
R2: Ch 4 (counts as 1 tr), beg in the same st as the initial ch 4, tr3tog, ch 4 (counts as 1 tr), 1 sl st to the next dc, 1 sl st to the next dc. *Ch 10, and working back along the ch 10, sk the first 3 chs, 1 tr in each of the next 2 chs, 1 dc in each of the next 2 chs, 1 hdc in each of the next 2 chs, 1 sc in the last ch. 1 sl st to the next dc (from R1)**. Work from * to ** 2 times total. Ch 4 (counts as 1 tr), beg in the same st as the initial ch 4, tr3tog, ch 4 (counts as 1 tr) and sl st to the top of the ch 3.
Finish off leaving approximately 60 cm of yarn.
Proceed to finishing instructions.
Finishing Instructions
- Do not use this candle base cover with a real candle. Only use it with battery operated or solar candles.
- Take the yarn end from the bow and wrap as much of it as you prefer around the center portion of the bow and secure the end.
- Weave in any remaining ends.
- If you are adding the brooch back, use a needle and sewing thread to attach it to the top portion of the back of the wreath.
- If you are using a ribbon, tie it to the top of the wreath, on the back side of the project, or use a metal Christmas Ornament hanger and thread it through the back or top of the ornament. You can add a small bell to the top if you’d like too!
